BFA CRATERS CLASSIC

Taupō is the home to some of the best, and most importantly, fun single tracks in our region.
You are spoilt for choice with Huka Trails providing incredible views of the Waikato river. You are surrounded by native bush, geothermal streams and the giant Redwood trees! If you venture out to the Great Lake Trails you will experience beautiful views of Lake Taupō whilst riding amongst more native forest.
Within Craters MTB park you will ride in and out of exotic pine and eucalyptus plantations on volcanic pumice soil that allows for year round riding with free draining qualities that are not found anywhere else in New Zealand.
The Craters Classic start and finish is situated right on the doorstep of our mountain bike trail network, The Hub, Wairakei Drive, Taupō.
Our courses are designed to showcase just some of the 60km of single track network available in Craters MTB Park and the surrounding Huka trails.
The event is run by Bike Taupō, a charity organisation, and that means that all profits are returned to track building and maintenance. Nice one Bike Taupo!
Craters Classic is back in 2024!
We will be creating an awesome event for you at The Hub, right on the doorstep of Craters Mountain Bike Park!!
This will be autumn mountain biking at it's absolute best! Taupō’s 'White Gold' pumice soils mean that our tracks remain hard, fast and a joy to ride, whatever the weather!
By supporting Craters Classic, you are helping Bike Taupō to carry on building and maintaining our amazing mountain bike park track network.
For 2024, the Craters Classic will be part of Taupō’s newest and coolest festival - the Love Taupō Trail Festival in partnership with Total Sport.
King & Queen of the Mountain
Get ready for the 2024 “King & Queen of the Mountain”
Thanks to our key partner, Tineli we will once again be running a timed K&Q of the Mountain event where all our competitors will be timed for a duration of the event and it’s a race to the summit!
Will you be crowned our 2024 King or Queen?
Look out for the awesome Tineli Prizes for Men’s and Women’s winners! Prizes and bragging rights for fastest male/female in each category.
